This is what the area looked like when I arrived. Pretty horrible!

I bought lots of butterfly-attracting plants and was sure they were bright and full for the camera!

The cashier at one of my "secret spots" thought I was crazy for buying every butterfly-related item they had in stock. Three shopping carts worth! Check-out these adorable butterfly bird-feeders!

The kids painted the ugly walls in the yard with bright colors I selected.

The day before my crew weeded and amended the planting areas, built an arbor and planted vines that looked like they'd been growing there for a while, put up bamboo fencing - basically we did everything that was too grueling for the actresses and kids.

Shopping for props was a lot of fun. Except the perfectionist that I am found myself shopping at Ikea for kids' outdoor furniture I remembered them having - and putting those chairs together actually wasn't too fun!

I hired an artist to hand cut wooden butterflies for the kids to paint. No two were alike. The people I work with are also perfectionists!

The artwork was so great, but it didn't make the magazine.

"Avarie, are we planting these right?"
